National Honor Society Peer Tutor Lab Meets in the Library

The current tutoring schedule is available at Driscoll’s Edline page.

School days bring homework, studying, tests, and questions about subjects being taught. If students request a tutor, Ms. Hesiak, matches them to another student who can help. Both tutor and tutee are given a schedule in homeroom the day before the assignment. This schedule becomes their hall pass for the library. If they choose to tutor after school, they come to the library from 2:45 until 3:15 p.m. to study together. A tutoring lab report is filled out and signed by the peer tutor moderator. The report is given to the teacher of the class in which the student was tutored. Also, the tutor receives service credit for time spent tutoring.

The requirement to be a tutor is to have at least a 3.25 grade point average in the subject tutored and the desire to help another student. It is not necessary to be a member of the National Honor Society to be a tutor. All are encouraged or recommended by teachers or counselors to be tutees.

The most popular subjects in the tutoring lab are Algebra, Sciences, Spanish, and English. Tutoring is for everyone. Even tutors ask to be tutored.

Students interested in the National Honor Society Peer Tutoring program, should please contact Ms. Hesiak in the library.
