The Crest

The crossed hands in the upper left symbolize the School Sisters of St. Francis, who collaborated in the founding and early administration of the school. The encircled star in the upper right is the symbol of the Christian Brothers. Referred to as either the Star of Bethlehem or the Sign of Faith, it is the official insignia of the brothers. The road and thistles in the lower left symbolize Army Trail Road, one of the few recognizable access roads at the time of Driscoll’s planning and construction. The thistle is also a traditional symbol of Scotland. The bagpipes in the lower right symbolize the school’s nickname, the Highlanders.
